My tip“Entry is free; in the same building there is a folk arts museum and a naive art exhibition. Allow at least an hour.”
The largest surviving Arab baths in Spain (about 450 m²), from the 11th century, discovered buried under the Palacio de Villardompardo in 1913. The cold, warm and hot halls follow one another under their domes with star-shaped skylights, and traces of Almohad decoration survive.
Easy to reach
In the old town of Jaén. Parking in the centre, then a short walk through steep streets. The underground baths are reached by stairs. Cafés nearby.
