One of my places in San Sebastián

Phare de Biarritz

Biarritz

Dr. Abdulmajeed Al-MudarraMy tip
“It usually opens in the afternoon, for a token fee; the stairs are narrow and there is no lift. The gardens around it are free and suitable for a stroll. Reminder for the trip to France: carry your passport (and the visa or Spanish residence card) for each person.”

A white lighthouse on the Saint-Martin headland, 73 metres above the sea, climbed by about 250 steps for a view of the coast from the Adour to Spain.

What to see

Miramar beach below the lighthouse, and the long beaches of Anglet to the north for surfing.

Moderate effort, needs a car

5 minutes by car from central Biarritz; parking nearby, and the climb is by stairs only.
