Chapter Seven

Getting around San Sebastián

San Sebastián is small and can be walked along the seafront or travelled on Dbus buses, and the Euskotren train links it to Bilbao and the French border (Hendaye). The rechargeable “Mugi” card cuts the prices of buses and trains. Airports: San Sebastián airport (Hondarribia) is small with limited flights; Bilbao airport has more flights and a direct bus to San Sebastián in about 1 hour 15 minutes; Biarritz airport, in France, is 45 minutes away. Taxis are available, and ride-hailing apps are very limited. Tips: parking in the city is expensive and scarce, so choose a hotel with parking or leave the car.
