My tip“The coast road between Valldemossa, Deià and Sóller is one of the most beautiful roads in the Mediterranean. Go down to the rocky cove of “Cala Deià”. The Graves House: Monday–Friday 09:30–16:30.”
An orange stone village perched between the Tramuntana mountains (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and olive groves above the sea, which inspired generations of artists and writers; the house of the poet Robert Graves is a museum there.
What to see
Stepped stone alleys · the Robert Graves house museum · the rocky Cala Deià cove · views of the Tramuntana mountains · Son Marroig palace and its lookout
Moderate effort
TIB bus from Palma, or a car along a winding mountain road; parking is scarce. The village is on a slope with alleys and steps. Walking down to Cala Deià takes 30 minutes and the way back is uphill; or drive to a small car park. Many restaurants.
