My tip“Follow the ceramic footprints on the ground from the square up to the fortress and the cemetery overlook, and finish with a coffee in the square. An hour by car from Málaga via a mountain road.”
A white village on a rocky hilltop in the East (Axarquía), nicknamed the “Balcón de la Axarquía”, and it is said that the Comares Tower in the Alhambra bears its name. Its lanes are decorated with ceramic footprints guiding visitors to the ruins of its Nasrid fortress.
What to see
the Balcón de la Axarquía · the trail of ceramic footprints · the ruins of the Nasrid fortress · the modern entrance arches · views to the sea
Moderate effort, needs a car
The road is winding, and the village is very steep with many steps; unsuitable for pushchairs. Car parks at its entrance.
