- Originally a mosque (confirmed)
My tip“Drive up on a narrow mountain road; the interior opens only at limited times, so ask the Archidona tourist office. The view of “Lovers’ Rock” is superb.”
One of the few surviving Andalusi mosques with its prayer hall: a small mosque from the 9th century CE within the walls of the Archidona fortress, with horseshoe arches on ancient columns, later turned into a Christian hermitage.
Easy to reach, needs a car
By car along a narrow, winding mountain road from Archidona to a car park beside the hermitage. The interior opens at limited times. No facilities up the mountain.
