A golden sandy beach in the Urdaibai reserve (a UNESCO biosphere reserve), guarded by the huge Ogoño rock; one of the most beautiful beaches in Biscay, with its unspoiled nature and surrounding mountains. The water is cold and the waves are often strong.
Easy to reach, needs a car
By car along a winding coastal road from Gernika (20 minutes) to a paid car park above the beach in summer, then a short walk down. Small restaurant and toilets. The car park fills before noon; few Bizkaibus buses. The waves are sometimes strong.
