My tip“Come at sunset, and bring diving goggles for the pebble beach below the lighthouse. Then continue to Los Genoveses beach and Mónsul (some of which are in the guide). There are no facilities near the lighthouse, so take water.”
The south-eastern tip of Andalusia: a volcanic cape topped by a lighthouse (1863), with the volcanic rocks of the “Arrecife de las Sirenas” in clear water in front of it. It is the heart of the Cabo de Gata–Níjar reserve, the driest and most beautiful coast in Europe.
Easy to reach, needs a car
A paved road from the village of Cabo de Gata past the salt pans (flamingo watching), with a small car park at the viewpoint. The walk is short and level. The wind is strong at times.
