One of my places in Almería

Castillo de Tabernas

Tabernas

Dr. Abdulmajeed Al-MudarraMy tip
“Walk up from the town's sports ground on a paved road. No shade or services, so go in the morning and carry water.”

A Nasrid fortress on a hill in the Tabernas desert, which guarded the road between Almería and Guadix. The Catholic Monarchs stayed there during their 1489 CE campaign against Almería. What remains are walls, cisterns and partly restored towers.

Moderate effort, needs a car

By car. From the town's sports ground, it is a 15–20 minute climb on a sloping paved road. No shade, water or services, and intense heat in summer. Cafés in the town.
