“Best time: daytime for shopping and cafés. Mercado de San Antón has sushi stalls, seafood and pork-free options. At night it is crowded with bars and nightlife, and it may not suit conservative families in the evening.”

A neighborhood known for nightlife and variety, directly north of Gran Vía. It has design shops, elegant cafés and beautiful buildings such as the modernist Palacio de Longoria. The Mercado de San Antón is one of Madrid’s most prominent modern food markets.
