The largest dam in the Madrid region, with its giant curved concrete wall (134 m) and a reservoir spreading between dark slate hills. The most beautiful view is from the lookout over the dam wall at sunset. Above it is the small village of El Atazar, overlooking the lake.
Easy to reach, needs a car
About an hour by car via the A-1, then Torrelaguna and Patones; no public transport. A viewpoint with a small car park beside the road.
