Founded by Taha Hussein in 1950 as a scholarly bridge between Egypt and al-Andalus. Figures such as Husayn Mu’nis and Mahmud ‘Alī Makkī ran it and published its journal, “Ṣaḥīfat al-Maʿhad al-Miṣrī li-l-Dirāsāt al-Islāmiyya”, which printed edited Andalusi texts for the first time.
