One of my places in Gran Canaria

Roque Nublo

Tejeda

“The trail takes about an hour and a half there and back. It is sometimes closed on fire-risk days, and parking is limited, so go early.”

A towering volcanic rock (80 m) at an altitude of 1813 m, the symbol of Gran Canaria and sacred to its original inhabitants. It overlooks the island's peaks, with Teide on the horizon.

Moderate effort, needs a car

By car only, to the La Goleta car park (small, and it fills up). About 1.5 km uphill on a rocky trail, 1.5 hours there and back; not suitable for pushchairs. No shade or water, wind and fog, and it closes on fire-risk days.
